mentoring for emerging designers

Over the past few years, I’ve received many messages from designers seeking advice on projects, pricing, client management and how to build a practice that feels both creatively fulfilling and sustainable.

These conversations are something I genuinely enjoy. They’ve also reminded me how valuable it can be to have a sounding board - someone to talk things through with, ask questions, and gain perspective from.

I’m now offering one-on-one mentoring sessions for designers who would value a personalised, supportive conversation around their work and business.

These sessions are intentionally informal and tailored entirely to you.

Whether you're at the beginning of your journey or refining an existing practice, this is a space to ask questions, explore ideas and gain clarity on whatever you’re currently navigating.

What we can cover during your session:

Each session is guided by what you need, and may touch on areas such as:

  • Starting or growing a design or decoration practice

  • Refining your aesthetic and finding your design voice

  • Client communication and managing expectations

  • Project workflow and timelines

  • Working with suppliers and procurement

  • Social media, content and brand positioning

  • How to get published

  • Navigating challenges or moments of uncertainty

a note on mentoring

These sessions are designed to complement - not replace - structured coaching programs.

They are conversation-based and grounded in my personal experience of building a design studio. I do not provide frameworks, templates or course material, and the sessions are not intended as a formal coaching program.

If you’re seeking in-depth, structured business coaching, I would recommend working with a dedicated design coach. These sessions are best suited to those seeking clarity, perspective, and an honest, practical conversation.

who this is for

frequently asked questions

  • These sessions are informal, one-off conversations rather than a structured coaching program. I don’t provide frameworks, templates or course material, but instead share my personal experience of building a design studio.

If you’re seeking in-depth, structured business coaching, I would recommend working with a dedicated design coach. These sessions are best suited to those looking for clarity, perspective and a supportive sounding board.

  • Interior designers, decorators and stylists in the early to mid stages of building their practice who are looking for clarity, guidance or a sounding board on specific challenges.

  • Ahead of our session, I’ll send through a short questionnaire to help you reflect on what you’d most like to focus on and to give me some context around your practice.

You don’t need to prepare anything formal beyond that - just come with a sense of what feels most useful to discuss. This might be a specific question, a current project, or a broader challenge you’re navigating in your business.

  • Yes - some designers book a single session for clarity on a specific issue, while others return for ongoing support as their business evolves.
